White Mountains

White Mountains, New Hampshire.
The White Mountains National Forest in central New Hampshire is one of America's most popular, registering more visitors annually than Yellowstone and Yosemite combined. One of the highlights of the White Mountains is a  hut system, a series of mountain lodges that provide food, shelter, and creature comforts for hikers, that makes  the White Mountains much more accessible to hikers of all abilities, you will need to make reservations to stay in the huts.
The White mountains are home to some of the Northeast's highest peaks, the Presidential Range, if you are looking for a quieter walk and want the woods to yourself it would be advisable to steer clear of the Appalachian Trail and the Presidential Range.
