Engadine & National Park

The Engadine is well-know as ‘hiking and walking’ on this tour you will not only sample the walks but you will see the beautiful countryside this part of Switzerland is famous for, meadows strewn with wild flowers, beautiful preserved traditional villages, impressive mountains and crystal clear lakes.
We start at Zernez, the gateway to the National Park, cross the park and finally lead into the Munster Valley, one of three valleys of the canton of Grisons giving access to Italy. The highlight of the tour is the days spent in Switzerland’s only National Park, even though the rules are strict to protect the wilderness you will discover the unspoilt and untamed natural beauty of this area and are certain to observe wild deer, Chamois and Ibex on your walks.

Day 1 - Zernez to Chamanna Cluozza: Today is an easy and relatively short walk right into the heart of the National Park, you are likely to arrive at the Chamanna Cluozza around noon, as this is about a 3 hour walk, leaving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful valley in which the hut is situated.
Today’s hike is about 3 hours.

Day 2 - Chamanna Cluozza to Il Fuorn: Today you start with a steep climb up Murter. On top of this flat mountain you enjoy spectacular views over the park, after a fairly steep descent to a narrow gorge you continue straight uphill again until you cross a road, here you have the option of either taking a bus or to continue at a leisurely pace to the hotel.
Today’s hike is about 6.5 hours.

Day 3 - Il Fuorn - Susom Givé: Walk across the broad and flattopped mountain of Munt La Shera to Süsom Givé, which is the top of the Ofen Pass, the “Munt la Schera” offers vast views and is known for its flowers, The Ofen Pass derives its name from the fact that in the old days, there were many ovens here, where iron ore was smoldered, remains of some of these old ovens can still be seen along the road.
Today’s hike is about 5.5 hours.

Day 4 - Susom Givé to Lü: Today is a short walk to Lü on an easy Haute Route high above the valley, offering good views which include the mighty Ortler, the highest mountain in the region.
Today’s hike is about 4 hours.

Day 5 - Lü to Sta. Maria: Continue your walk, which leads along the mountain slope, taking you through airy forests of lark trees and flowering meadows, depending on the time of year, you could walk directly to Sta. Maria or make a detour to visit Münster with its famous monastery.
Today’s hike is about 4.5 hours.

Day 6- Sta. Maria: A day to explore the region around Sta. Maria, for example visit Lai da Rims, possibly the most beautiful mountain lake in the Swiss Alps or take a walk into the valley Val Vau.
