Männlichen (2227m) to Kleine Scheidegg (2061m) optional route walk down to Wengen (1274m) via Wengernalp (1873m) A Must: Männlichen (2227m) to Männlichengipfel (2342m) back to Männlichen (2227m) Walk grade: Eating Options: Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, Wengernalp, Allmend and Wengen The walk starts from Männlichen, reached either by cable car from Wengen or from Grund via the longest gondola in Europe. This is a lovely walk especially if you can do it on a clear day as you have numerous photo opportunities with superb views of the Eiger (3970m), Mönch (4107m) and Jungfrau (4158) and numerous other peaks including the Schreckhorn (4078m) and the Wetterhorn (3701m). From Männlichen take the short round trip walk to Männlichengipfel, from here you have magnificent views of the Schynige Platte (2068m) and the Faulhorn (2686m). Once back at Männlichen you follow the route that is well sign posted to Kleine Scheidegg via the peaks of Tschuggen and Lauberhorn both of these offer panoramic views of the valley below before descending into Kleine Scheidegg your route then bears right down to Wengernalp and here your bear right again to walk below the peaks of the Lauberhorn and Tschuggen via Allmend before you eventually enter into Wengen. Wengen is served by an excellent railway system that will take you back to your destination |
