The route between Kleine Scheidegg and Alpiglen offers terrific views of the Eiger’s North face, once passing Alpiglen continuing down to Grund you can see the panoramic views leading down to the Grindelwald valley and up to First and the Schwarzhorn peak (2928m)

This route can start either at Kleine Scheidegg leading down to Grund or can start at Grund, this way you have a continual up hill route, either of these stations is served by trains from Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen.

Kleine Scheidegg is rarely quiet and generally bustles from morning to late afternoon. The path to Alpiglen starts at the rear of the station building adjacent to the platform from where trains to Grindelwald depart. The path shadows the railway as it descends into the valley after a short while it drifts away from the railway to reach the first junction where you bear right.
The path continues down and the onward route is never in doubt as you maintain a steady descent towards Alpiglen station crossing the railway a short way from the end of the walk, from hear you have a choice you can either leave the walk here, to catch the train from Alpiglen or venture on down to Grund via Brandegg taking in the views of the Grindelwald valley.

If you reverse the route it starts at Grund Station steadily climbing up to Brandegg, you then start to bear right to Alpiglen, on leaving Alpiglen the walk follows in the mystic shadow of the great Eiger and then into Kleine Scheidegg
