This route offers spectacular scenery of the Dolomites, from your starting point in Brixen you travel high above the Eisack Valley surrounded by the rocky peaks that characterise the Dolomites, the route takes you through Alpine meadows of the Seiser Alm to Val Gardena. We have put together an idea for a walking holiday in Italy offering fantastic walking with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, more walks in this area will be coming soon.

Day 1 - Brixen to Klausen: Today starts with a climb up to the Pfeffersberg,  as you travel along the paths through small villages and farms you are treated to magnificent views of the towering peaks of the Dolomites, you pass through Feldthurns and then the Säben Monastery on your way to Klausen.
Today’s hike is about 5 hours.

Day 2 - Klausen to Barbian: Today you climb up from the valley, on an old mule track through chestnut trees to reach the village of Villanders, from here a path curvea high above the valley below to reach the village of Barbian, easily recognizable by the bent spire on the church.
Today’s hike is about 4.5 hours.

Day 3 - Barbian to Ritten: The route takes you to the Ritten Plateau with Alpine meadows surrounded by the rock faces of the Dolomite peaks, you pass the village of Klobenstein and to finish your day you descend to Bozen on the old Ritten Railway.
In Bozen you can go and see Otzi, the well-preserved ice age mummy found in a glacier a few years ago.

Day 4 - Völs to Kastelruth: This morning you transfer by bus from Bozen to Völs to start todays section which is dominated by Mount Schlern you pass by a scenic lake before reaching Seis, the route then continues to Kastelruth.

Day 5 - Kastelruth to St Ulrich: Today's route takes you over the meadows of the Seiser Alm, with panoramic views all around you as you descend into Val Gardena and on to the village of St Ulrich.
Today’s hike is about 5 hours.

Day 6 - St Ulrich to Klausen: The last day's walking is a descent, returning you to the main Eisack Valley and the village of Klausen, from Klausen you return by train to Brixen.
Today’s hike is about 5 hours.
